Is The iPhone 14 Good? Find Out Its Features And Performance

Design And Connectivity

The look of the iPhone 14 maintains the same essential characteristics as its three predecessors, making it very difficult to find relevant differences between them – especially in comparison to the iPhone 13. In other words, the device has sides made of metal with rounded edges. Its screen uses the display well, with few edges and a small horizontal area at the top. Its back is made of glass, with the Apple logo centered, and two (or three, depending on the version) large camera sensors in the top left corner. The iPhone 14 is available in yellow, blue, and purple, a white version called Stellar, a black version called Midnight, and a red version called Product Red. 

The device has stereo speakers a port for the lightning connector at the bottom, with the power button and the nano SIM drawer on the right side, while the switch to silence the cell phone is on the left side. The iPhone 14 is IP68 certified for dust resistance and up to 6 meters of submersion in fresh water for 30 minutes, in addition to support for 5G, Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 6, GPS, and NFC. 

Screen And Audio

Following the trend, the iPhone 14 screen has no significant new features, which doesn’t mean it isn’t good either. It is a 6.1-inch OLED panel with Full HD+ resolution, support for HDR10 and Dolby Vision, however, with only a 60Hz refresh rate. In general, the screen stands out mainly for its color reproduction and balanced brightness that allows good indoor and outdoor visibility. A complete display of the most varied forms of use. 

The device’s audio quality matches the quality of the screen, mainly because it has well-defined bass and treble, as well as support for extra features such as Dolby Atmos and spatial audio support. Cameras

Cameras are usually the main protagonists of Apple smartphones, and the iPhone 14 is no different. Despite having a similar set to its predecessor, this version has specific changes. All three lenses maintain the 12MP on the iPhone 13 but with different apertures on the main and front sensors. As for the rear cameras, both the primary and ultrawide cameras achieve great results when taken under good lighting conditions. The colors have a realistic appearance, and the dynamic range is also good, but these qualities are gradually reduced in photos with low lighting. On the other hand, the night mode achieves pleasant results but nothing very notable. 

The front camera also delivers a great result, matching the primary lens, with good sharpness and great contour in portrait mode, but with few apparent differences compared to the iPhone 13. As for video production, the iPhone 14 reaches 4K resolution at 60 fps, with variations of 4K HDR at 30 fps or 1080p at 120 fps. The images are also of high quality and have optical stabilization.

Performance

Performance is another aspect that has maintained good quality but without significant structural changes. The A15 Bionic chipset, the same one present in the iPhone 13, together with 6GB of RAM, provides excellent performance and is fluid and highly competent for use, whether with common multitasking apps or games. The slight difference is that the version of the chip used in the iPhone 14 has an extra GPU core, providing slightly higher performance than the 13. 

Regardless of the details, performance is one of the device’s primary virtues, according to the brand’s standard. The iPhone 14 has 128, 256, and 512 GB of internal storage. 

Battery

At its launch, the evolution of the battery in the iPhone 14 was constantly highlighted. And despite having a greater capacity than its predecessor, it is not such a relevant evolution. The iPhone 13 has a 3,240 mAh battery with 20W charging support, while the 14 has 3,279 mAh with 18W charging. 

In short, with moderate use, the smartphone has autonomy for at least a day. The duration decreases for constant video consumption or time spent playing games. Remember that iPhones do not come with chargers in their boxes.
